my secret life as samurai champloo

as i just finished another anime series. obviously the right thing to do is to write review.

the series, as you might have guessed from the title, is called samurai champloo.
it's about 2 samurai's and a girl that goes on this 26 episode journey to find a samurai that smells of sunflowers.

it's a smart and fun styled anime as it mixes the edo period with elements of hip hop. Mugen. the rough haired looking samurai, uses a lot of breakdancing moves during swordplay.

notable hip hop elements. graffiti, tagging, beatboxing, rapping, big boomboxes. such and such. the series doesn't focus on the element of hip hop itself. its kind of just blended into making it look natural. pretty smart if you would ask me. and i'm very sure hip hop + anime fans would especially enjoy how they have incooperated hip hop into this series. i know i definitely did!

it's good how they did not overdo the series. Mugen and Jin ( the longer haired samurai's) are pretty impressively skilled samurai's but while watchin the series you will realise they aren't the best skilled. the girl kinda is the reason why they're together.

although the series is named samurai champloo, i always wondered why is it called that. no one is named champloo. wikipedia-ing (another non-exisiting verb) the word champloo you will find this! haha. how funny. note that champuru and champloo are essentially same if you pronounce it in a japanese or korean manner. i know this because i have lived in korea for a time in my life.

although an interesting series the ending might seem a bit disappointing and there was one episode that did not make any sense at all. they whole series did not have any like sci-fi or supernatural feeling until an episode solely about zombies. it surprised many a fans thinking that the whole series was gonna take a new turn. but in happen to be an isolated incident. so don't be worried if you watch it and think "wth. how come got zombie one. is there some evil conspiracy" In fact that episode really did not make any sense. but whatever la.

overall i would reckon this get's an 7.5/10 in my book.
a good series to pick up if you're on a really long holiday.
